Soulganic to Release New Album “Wax Progressive: Equilibria Vol. 2.” on Sept. 3rd, 2021
SOULGANIC ANNOUNCES ALBUM, WAX PROGRESSIVE: EQUILIBRIA VOL. 2, SET FOR SEPTEMBER 3 RELEASE
Wax Progressive: Equilibria Vol. 2, set for September 3 release, is the result of an ongoing musical conversation between kindred spirits, expressed through ideas rooted in nearly every branch of African American and Afro-Caribbean music: from soul to rock to jazz to funk to Latin to blues…and beyond.
Soulganic’s pulsating, driving, and intertwining rhythms enable Wax Progressive’s compositions to deftly weave between styles and genres as diverse as the band members themselves. Each track is rounded into form by melodic – and at times experimental – atmospheres that evoke such visionary performers as Bilal, Prince, and Van Hunt. Lyrics ranging from love, to social commentary, to existential meditations are all emotionally delivered by vocalist/bassist Anthony Rodriguez, whose raw tenor and falsetto vocals echo hints of Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Raphael Saadiq, and Smokey Robinson.
Wax Progressive – what Soulganic calls a spiritual sequel to the band’s 2014 release Didactic Interstice: Equilibria Vol. 1 – slowly coalesced as a result of studio experimentation, musical sketches, vault recordings, and jam sessions over the past seven years. The result is a collection of songs that is honest and uncompromising; nostalgic, yet innovative; cerebral, yet soulful.
Wax Progressive was written, composed, produced, performed, recorded, and mixed by Soulganic. Also featured on the album are Emmy-award winning poet Boris “Bluz” Rogers, indie hip-hop juggernauts YUNG Citizen and Jeff Lucky, and William Thoren, one-half of Funk/Folk/Hip Hop duo Gorangutang, among others.
