Jazz Crooner Lourdes Duque Baron Releases Single From Her Second Album “Don’t Promise Forever”

PRLog – Sep. 30, 2014 – LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Classic jazz is not unfamiliar to Lourdes Duque Baron as her first album entitled “Feeling Good At Any Age” contained classic cover songs with a contemporary twist. But her debut singles from her new upcoming EP Don’t Promise Forever is a first glimpse at her original music talent. Teaming up again with producer Andrew Lane, who also produced Baron’s last album and who also frequently collaborates with jazz music royalty Ron Ellington Shy, Baron winds up with a sassy yet chic single that recalls the passionate late-night European sophistication of traditional jazz mixed with a contemporary sound. “Don’t Promise Forever” is a song Baron co-wrote with Lane. Baron wrote these lyrics as a tribute to her alter ego Cassandra as memorialized in her book “I Called Myself Cassandra.” In the book, Baron’s alter ego, Cassandra, details the several torrid affairs she sought out with younger men. The book chronicles a dark chapter of Baron’s life when she was estranged from her husband, who was cheating on her. “There were times when the pain was unbearable. Don’t Promise Forever’ is about heartache and not believing the lines of a Casanova.”

Lane also composed the arrangement. It’s not just the sound, it’s the emotion and feel of the song…very ’60s standards like Frank Sinatra’s “We Just Couldn’t Say Goodbye or Burt Bacharach’s “Walk on By”, classic and romantic jazz songs such as that of Diana Krall. If any music could be called accessible it’s this, with its warm intimacy and classic good taste. Baron’s look and sound has been referred to as ‘timeless.’ This new single is a masterpiece and could very well prove to be so. After all, some things are timeless for a reason; they need no updating, only replicating. Time will tell.
