New Voices: LaTaveya Franklin Releases New Single “I’m Better” | LISTEN TO NEW MUSIC!

LaTaveya Franklin is a 31 year old native of Pine Bluff Arkansas. She is the Mother of two children, A 14 year old daughter (Ajiah) and 10 year old son (Amahrion). She comes from a family of singers and Musicians including her mother Phyllis Robertson who was a Gospel Quartet singer and her father Leroy Franklin who is simply a lover of music. Music and Singing became natural.

As an adult she faced several challenges in her journey to become a singer. She was pregnant by age 17, in a very abusive marriage that almost ended her life. Through those troubled times she still had a dream, a passion for singing. She began auditioning for shows such as American Idol, The Voice, Duets and Sunday Best. She was unsuccessful at landing a spot on either of these shows and became discouraged.

Now a single mother of two LaTaveya believed that becoming a successful singer was not for her and gave up her dream. After a couple of years of not auditioning and only singing in church her mother encouraged her to try again. So she did, but was later met with an unforeseen tragedy, Her mother, her biggest fan and best friend had unexpectedly past away. Hurt and confused music was the furthest thing from her mind. In 2013 she began to pray about her purpose and her path. She auditioned for a competition called “Your Dream Is Out There” Sponsored by American Family Insurance. She was a top 10 finalist and performed for judges J Moss, Bishop Paul Morton and Tasha Cobbs. She did not win the competition but the opportunity awakened her dream once more. She decided to audition for Sunday Best 2014 in Atlanta and received a unanimous “Yes” from Celebrity Judges Yolanda Adams, Keke Sheard, Donnie Mcclurkin and Kim Burrell. This was the big break she was waiting for or so she thought. Unfortunately she later found out that the Producers could only pick 20 contestants and she was not chosen. This seemed like a setback and could have been discouraging but LaTaveya decided to let the setback be a setup for something bigger.

For the first time she would step out on her own and make her dream happen and not wait for others to make it happen for her. She has recorded her first single entitled I’M BETTER which is true testament of how she came out of the fire and is now better and stronger than ever.
