The UN & Music Collective Playing For Change Releases New Video, “A Better Place” in Uniting For Human Rights

The United Nations and world music collective Playing For Change, have
joined forces on a new “Around the World” video for their original
song, “A Better Place.” Mashable premiered the video today to mark
International Human Rights Day. It features 29 musicians from thirteen
countries – including Mountaga Sissoko of Mali, Naprang Manator of
Thailand, and Papa Orbe of Cuba – performing the song in their native
country, speaking out against inequality and for social justice with one
united voice.

The legendary jazz saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter will make his triumphant return to Blue Note Records after 43 years with the February 5, 2013 release of Without A Net, his searing new album with his long-running Quartet featuring pianist Danilo Perez, bassist John Patitucci, and drummer Brian Blade. Shorter has revealed the album cover artwork for Without A Net, which features drawings by Shorter himself.

The star-studded set slated for release February 19th chronicles his journey from Barbados to Boston while celebrating island culture.

Boston, MA (3 December 2012): Rihanna may be the most famous Barbadian making worldwide headlines, but saxophonist/flautist Elan Trotman is another gifted islander who is bringing the Caribbean island’s culture to the masses via music. 

“Tropicality,” which will be released February 19th on Woodward Avenue Records, chronicles Trotman’s journey from Barbados to Boston…
